Journeyman Electrician/Millwright

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Journeyman Electrician/Millwright is accountable for the effective functioning of the electrical systems or mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, for the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the effective functioning of the electrical systems or mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems in the facility.
  • Accountable for the effective installation of new equipment or the installation, welding and fabrication of new equipment.
  • Responsible for identifying and requesting proper parts to complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation as required.
  • Accountable to adhere to and utilize Company policies and procedures and HACCP regulations.
  • Accountable to ensure a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and visitors.


  • Valid Journeyman Electrician or Millwright Certificate or a recognized inter-provincial equivalent.
  • Minimum two years’ experience performing repairs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical systems, welding, fabrication and machining experience or mechanical, electrical and refrigeration experience.
  • An ability to use power and manual tools required.
  • A 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate (Ontario) is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Effort – Continuously standing or walking.  Regular requirement to lift, handle or carry material or equipment of a moderate weight.

  • Physical Environment – Regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, noise and fumes that cause noticeable discomfort and/or some risk of accident or illness.

  • Sensory Attention – Regular need to give moderate attention, either hearing or seeing, to what is happening.

  • Mental Stress – There is some modest pressure from deadlines or other productivity standards.  Work is somewhat repetitious.
